People Are Pissed Over Photo Of Kellyanne Conway Kneeling On Oval Office Couch

White House senior advisor Kellyanne Conway was photographed kneeling on one of the Oval Office couches this past Monday during a meeting with leaders of historically black colleges. Now, you probably don’t give a shit about Kellyanne kneeling on a couch. I too do not give a shit about Kellyanne kneeling on a couch. Yet here we are, talking about it anyway because god forbid anyone in the Trump administration do anything without getting flak for it. Lots of people saw Kellyanne’s casual posture as a sign of disrespect to our country’s highest office:

Others saw this as a good time to point out the hypocrisy that occurs on both sides of the political spectrum, as conservatives flipped tables after Obama was pictured with his feet up on his desk during his presidency…

…just like how liberals defended Bill Clinton’s escapades behind closed doors:

Some people decided to go and make memes:

But the smartest people of all didn’t make memes, complain or point fingers. The smartest people didn’t say shit, because they were out being productive members of society instead of sitting at home, scribbling off 140 characters into a tweet so that they could try and make the world see how “cultured” and “informed” they are. None of these people are on Twitter, and so these are the closest tweets we have from people who fall into this category:

It’s stories like these that remind me that yes, you CAN close your laptop and go for a walk outside. The Internet has a tendency to seem like “real life,” and by that I mean if you’re digging around Buzzfeed or Fox News for long enough, of course you’re going to think that the world is halfway to shit and everything is burning to the ground.

But you know what? It’s not. The average person doesn’t give a fuck about how Kellyanne Conway sat on a couch. The average person doesn’t run straight to Twitter to complain about their daily ailments. When you think that everyone around you has become a complete moron and that nothing seems right anymore, yank the power cord out of the wall and go for a hike — it’s not that the entire country is populated by idiots, it’s that the Internet gives voices to dipshits who you’d otherwise never hear from.

This is, of course, assuming that you don’t take your overly liberal millennial nephew who shares Salon stories on Facebook with you on your hike. Kid reads MSNBC and treats Vox like the Bible — best that you take your stroll alone, in that case.
