Rachel Platten has the most exuberant energy when she’s up onstage—she has a smiley and genuinely appreciative aura that vibrates throughout the room. We had the fortune of being in that room a couple of weeks ago at Irving Plaza (a venue that has sentimental meaning to the songstress, as she mentions below), and we felt all of the feels first hand. She makes you jump, she makes you cry, and she somehow makes a sold out venue of 1,000-plus people seem intimate. Now more than halfway through her romp around the country (find out if you can still catch her in your city here), Rachel gave Glamour a glimpse of what tour life has been like on and off the stage.
“I’ve dreamed of the day I would have my own tour bus for years. Now that day is here and it is better than I could’ve ever imagined—so great I may or may not have cried the first time I walked on to my new home….”
Getting Glam in Orlando, Florida
“Pre-show prep! This tour has been amazing so far! What’s up Orlando, I am getting ready for you!”
Meeting a Fan in Dallas, Texas
“One of my favorite parts of this tour is getting to meet our ‘Love You’re Not Alone’ winners, who we select in each city from the letters that they send me. We give the winners a purple heart sticker to wear, and they are some of the most incredible fans who just need a little reminder that they are not alone. This little cutie is Rachel!”
Live! With Kelly & Michael in New York City
“I was able to make my Nana very proud by performing ‘Stand By You’ and hanging with two of my favorites on Live! With Kelly & Michael while in NYC.”
Show at Irving Plaza in New York City
“For years, I used walk by Irving Plaza on my way to various jobs (that I was most likely about to get fired from), dreaming of the day I would play the venue. Selling out two days was MORE than a dream come true.”
Backstage Break in Washington, D.C.
“Had the best day off with my family in Boston. D.C., we are coming for you!!!”
Pre-Show in Minneapolis
“Preshow walk in Minneapolis, and I ran into this beauty. I salute you, Mr. Dylan.”
And um, this also happened in Minneapolis. Yup, Rachel brings out the romantic in all of us. Swoon.
Day Off in Charleston
“Charleston, you are a dream. Glad we could spend our day off with you!!”
“Don’t worry guys, I’ve got this. We will obviously be arriving to the rest of the shows on tour very safely and promptly with me behind the wheel. If I haven’t already made it to your city, my brand new bus and I will be coming to a city near you very soon!”
