Rob Gronkowski Can't Get Hot Promo Girl To Say Her Favorite Number Is 69

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was in rare form at the Daytona 500 yesterday, batting zero with the ladies working to promote Monster Energy Drinks on the track. Well, that’s not exactly correct — I’m sure Gronkowski could’ve pulled any girl at the race if he’d wanted, but is he clever enough to trick them into telling him that their favorite “speed limit” is 69?

No he is not.

To be fair, there’s no good way to ask that question. Do YOU have a favorite speed limit? “Man do I just love driving 25 and using my turn signal in residential streets and neighborhoods” said no one ever. It’s a dumb question with a dumb answer that he was stupid for asking, and she was stupid for not realizing what he was getting at from the beginning.

But can you blame him? Gronkowski is like the real life version of Thad Castle…

…though I like to think Gronkowski is smart enough to know better than to drop one liners like this on national television:

Not that common sense has stopped Gronkowski from being himself. Back in high school when he played basketball, he once missed a free throw just so the scoreboard would stay at his favorite number. According to his old coach, Chuck Swierski, “We’re playing a home game and we have 68 points — now it’s not a blowout, but it’s not a particularly close game either,” he explains. “So he gets fouled and goes to the free throw line. He hits the first one to get us to 69 and the places goes nuts because he’s playing into it. On his next free throw, he purposely chucks the ball off the backboard and misses so the score would stay at 69 and then runs back on defense pointing at the scoreboard.”

Like I said…

…real life Thad Castle we’ve got here.
