Over the last few days, Star Wars fans have been treated to new photos and magazine covers featuring the characters from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and LucasFilm also announced a global promotional campaign in anticipation for this spin-off. Earlier today, director Gareth Edwards even offered new details about the title itself, but now we have even more merchandise to unveil, including new 3D glasses to choose from when this movie hits theaters on December 16.
TheForce.net unveiled the first images of new Stormtrooper and Death Trooper 3D glasses, which were created by Look 3D. These glasses will be priced in the $10 to $15 range, but it isn’t known when they will be available for purchase. Fans will also get to learn more about a few of these Rebel characters in a trio of new books, slated to debut in 2017 from Edelweiss.
The first book cover released from this Edelweiss series is a “junior novel” simply entitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which features the artwork from the beach battle poster unveiled at Star Wars Celebration last month. The second book is a “middle grade” novel dubbed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Baze & Chirrut, featuring artistic depictions of Baze (Wen Jiang) and Chirrut (Donnie Yen) and the third book is a “young adult novel” entitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story featuring Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso on the cover.
Last but not least, new video reviews of Rogue One Black Series toys have surfaced, which will all be available to purchase on Force Friday, September 30. The videos from YouTube user “Chefatron” feature the action figures for K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), a Death Trooper, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). No pricing details have surfaced yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted with all of the merchandise updates as we get closer to Force Friday.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. The group of Rebels trying to steal the Death Star plans is lead by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), along with Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Baze Malbus (Wiang Jen) and Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen).
The cast also incudes Mads Mikkelsen as Jyn’s father, Galen, Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Director Orson Krennic and Forest Whitaker as Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Saw Gerrera. It was also recently confirmed that Jimmy Smits will reprise his prequel trilogy role as Bail Organa, although, unfortunately, no details have been revealed about how he fits into the story. Take a look at these new videos, book covers and 3D glasses photos below, and stay tuned for more details.
