For nearly a year, Verizon has been slowly adding $20 to the plan price for the stragglers who still have unlimited data. Starting August 21st, Verizon’s coming for the last of them with “Phase 3″ of their rollout.
As pointed out by Android fan site Droid-Life, Verizon’s price increase for unlimited customers has been happening gradually. This new Phase 3 seems to be going after users with unlimited Alltel plans and all-in-one plans. Most customers have probably already seen the price increase, but if you’ve managed to avoid it, your days are numbered.
The price hike will raise unlimited data pricing from $30 to $50. The change will take effect as soon as you re-up your next contract after August 21st. That means that if you just renewed a two-year contract today, you won’t see that price hike for two years, even though the deadline is August 21st. Still, no matter where you are in your upgrade cycle, time’s running out for the unlimited data ride.
